Old cabins

What makes old cabin so cool.... That's easy perspective!!!!

Gateway to Zion

This mountain is the mountain in the town of Rockville as you make your way to Zions National Park.....

Old farm equipment...

Old farm equipment is often overlooked... But for some reason I couldn't overlook this old tractor. It reminds me of my grandpas..I think it has a lot of character...

Old bridge

Old bridges and photographs should go hand and hand. This bridge is a one lane bridge going to the old ghost town of Grafton from Rockville.

Natural frames.....

I am always in search of natural frames when I shoot landscape shots. I found these natural frames in an old stable window. The old barn wood really makes a cool natural frame.

Color versus Black and White

I found when you take pictures of old wooden buildings, the monochrome or black and white feature of your camera really sets the mood of the picture.

The picture in color is so so.

Now when it is shot in monochrome It sets the mood of the picture and brings out the nostalgia of it.

And to take it one step further add something to the foreground.

Your finished picture is ready for a magazine or in this case a blog site!!!

Sometimes the planets just align!!!!

I took this shot and didn't think much of it, until I got home and looked at it on my HD monitor. My jaw dropped...I am a firm believer now in polarized lens with landscape shots. I used an exposure of f11 1/200 ISO 500 52mm WB3000K

I thought I saw a face in this!!!

This picture reminds me of the red robot in rockem sockem robots... The picture shows some great color contrast along the red side of the spectrum. I used a polarized Hoya lens and an exposure of f25 1/125 ISO 500 75mm

The Kaleidoscope

I love tinkering with multiple exposures. This is a shot looking straight up in slot canyon, This is two pictures in one. It reminds me of being a kid and looking through my kaleidoscope.. I used two exposures of f10 1/160 ISO 320 22mm and to produce the kaleidoscopic effect without the computer is my little secret !!

Pine valley is in my sandstone sight!!

I was walking along the sugarloaf and spotted this shot I couldn't help but think pine valley mountain is in the sights of a sandstone gun..
I used a polarized Hoya lens and an exposure of f25 1/125 ISO 500 85mm

Red rocks

This picture was taken mid morning, the rock structure looked like a chunk of swiss sandstone..I used an exposure of f13 1/160 ISO 500 105mm!!

HDR Who would of thought!!!

I took this picture after work on a clear night. I have always wanted a picture of the temple, but none of the pictures out there were what I was looking for..tOo blasted oRdinary..

HDR or High Dynamic Range is a concept that is gaining ground in the photography world. This picture or should I say pictures were taken at different EF or exposure factors. That's right, 3 pictures to be exact. The first picture is taken at a normal exposure factor or (0) than the next picture is taken at +1.3 to bring out highlights and the final picture is taken at -1.3 to bring out shadows. These three pictures are then interpolated and tone mapped to bring out the final picture which you are seeing now...

I finally found the picture of the temple I have always wanted. Needless to say this one is hanging in my living room now on a frame stretched 18X22 canvas.....

Got clouds!

These pictures were taken at a couple hour past daybreak. I was tinkering with White balance and used multiple K settings. These two pictures were taken five minutes from one another in the eastern sky outside my house just before a rain shower. I finally came up with 8500K to increase the red range and a 4500K that increased the blue range. By manipulating this setting, you bring out the highlights and shadows that are pleasing to the eye giving each picture a different perspective...kinda' Cool huh!!!

Long Exposure

This photo was fun and kind of different but the final image struck me like lightning bolt to the head.

I was bored at about 1am waiting for the laundry to finish when I got the hair brained idea.. "Hey its dark and I'm bored..lets see what the camera can do with long exposures....
